Purpose of the Honorary Doctorate

The Honorary Doctorate Award (Honoris Causa) is conferred to recognize exceptional contribution, service, and impact made by individuals in the fields of academics, health, education, social welfare, research, leadership, and humanitarian work.

This recognition is awarded as a mark of honour, not as an earned academic degree.


Eligibility Criteria

An individual may be considered eligible for the Honorary Doctorate Award if he or she meets one or more of the following criteria:

1. Professional & Academic Contribution

  • Significant contribution in education, academics, training, or research
  • Long-standing service in health, wellness, or allied sciences
  • Demonstrated excellence in a professional field with societal relevance

2. Social & Humanitarian Service

  • Outstanding contribution to social welfare, public service, or community development
  • Proven humanitarian work benefiting society at large
  • Leadership in non-profit, voluntary, or charitable initiatives

3. Innovation & Leadership

  • Innovative work that has created positive social or educational impact
  • Ethical leadership and role-model influence in a recognized field
  • Contribution that inspires others and promotes public good

4. Experience & Recognition

  • Minimum 10 years of documented experience or service in the relevant field
    (Exceptional cases may be considered on merit)
  • Recognized contributions at local, national, or international level

Nomination Process

1. Nomination Submission

Nominations may be submitted by:

  • Institutions or organizations
  • Professional bodies
  • Social organizations
  • Existing awardees
  • Self-nomination (with complete documentation)

2. Required Information

Each nomination must include:

  • Full name and contact details of the nominee
  • Field of contribution
  • Brief profile / bio-data
  • Summary of achievements and social impact
  • Supporting documents (where applicable)

Evaluation & Selection

  • All nominations are reviewed by an internal evaluation committee
  • Selection is based on merit, contribution, integrity, and impact
  • The decision of the Council shall be final and binding
  • The Council reserves the right to accept or reject any nomination without assigning reasons

Nature of the Award

  • The Honorary Doctorate Award is a symbolic academic honour
  • It is not an earned university degree
  • It does not confer any statutory, professional, or clinical practice rights
  • It does not imply government or university recognition

Ethical Guidelines

  • The award is conferred strictly on merit and contribution
  • No false claims of government approval or statutory authority are permitted
  • Any misuse of the honorary title may result in withdrawal of recognition
